Fuel Economy - What do you get out of a tank? (3rd gens only)

I did a trip over easter, Canberra - Adelaide - Port Augusta and back, clocked 3440kms on 300L of juice, mostly highways.It was loaded up to the brim, running 36 psi and it used 105 litres for the 1250 km Canberra to Adelaide (via Ouyen). even with the price of fuel it only cost $140 - not cheap but cheaper than flying a family of four. FOund the trip meter to be pretty accurate, as long as you fill it consistently. And even in Balranald it was no dearer than Canberra, price ranged from $1.31 to $1.38 on Good Friday.

On a trip I get around 8.5L/100kms(best I have seen is 7.8 without the air con on - highway only and around 110kms/hr), around town it gets scary around 12L/100 - we only live 4 kms from work & supermarkets and its 80km/hr zones everywhere with lots & lots of roundabouts!Car is an 2002 S2 exec with 66000kms with tiptronic box.

My car has never seen a full fuel tank. I'm already carrying enough luxo barge weight as it is, and dont need another 30kg or so of fuel.

Mods are extractors, 18" rims, exhaust (2.5", hi flow cat, hi flow muff).

On average I get about 14.5 - 15L / 100km. ****ty yes, my car hardly gets time to warm up before I arrive at work. On other normal city driving it's around 11.5-12.5L/100km. Country driving its 8.5L-9.5L/100km.

Subtract 0.5-1L / 100 km for the addition of a pod. However this no doubt meant the car was running lean.

My car: 17c per km.
CBR250R: 4c per km.

I can't wait till I get my bike licence.

just did a trip down south and its 300kms south of perth and i only used just over a 1/4 of fuel

get about 550-600 with suburban and city driving, i dont drive like a grandma either. Went away over easter car did 700kms and according to trip i had 50 left. was pretty happy with that considering i had 4 people and was packed.

I get over 600k in a working week with mostly highway then some city driving
Only engine/performance mod i have is a rear sports muffler and i drive in tippy shifting never before 3,000rpm cause im used to manuals and atuos are gay for shifiting before 3k, gay i tell u .

Mods are listed in my profile. Either way it's a high powered N/A car with a tune that is probably too rich.

On the highway, averaging around 135kph I get 11.9L/100km. Around town at the moment it's more like 18L/100km.

Fuel of choice is 95 RON premium unleaded.

98 TF Magna with no mods except interior, 135K Kms, I mainly do all city driving (stop/start) and lucky to get above 80km/h and manage around 500-550kms a tank. However If I do freeway driving I've managed to do around 625kms. That was really pushing it though

How can you worth out your fuel economy if you dont filled it up???

Ok for all those worried about the trip computer:

When you reset the computer, it calculates the range to empty based on your last average fuel consumption. So if your last average fuel was like 20L/100km you're range to empty will likely be 350 -400kms. If ur last average was like 10L/100km, your range to empty will be ~600kms. So there's no need to panic.

Other things to consider:

Not all magnas are the same

1. Manual V/S Auto
2. Verada V/S Magna (Weight Factor)
3. Advance, VRX V/S Executive (Weight Factor, Power Factor)

All these contribute to fuel consumption and economy. Also for those people that have a trip computer it would be best to post all your data like your average speed etc. This would give memebers an idea of how ur fuel is being consumed

For instance i get about 450kms from 66L of petrol and my average speed is about 30km'hr according to the computer. That's because i spend a lot ot time in traffic, travel distances less than 8kms, and fill up every 2 weeks.

I bet for those people getting 550+kms ur average speed would be like 60km/h or more and travelling greater distances, hence the better fuel economy.
